Shhhh! Do not rustle this bizarre creature.

Behold! In what could be her boldest image shift to date (no, not really), Lady Gaga appears in Harper’s Bazaarwith NO MAKEUP.

What is going on? Who is this person? Is she Swedish? Is she iamamiwhoami? Is this going to presage an acoustic album? Will all her outfits be fashioned out of natural fibers on manual looms?

Perhaps the answers lie below.

“Don’t you think that what’s on the cover of a magazine is quite artificial?” she asks. “There’s this idea that it’s all natural, but everything’s been staged to look natural. It is also an invention. It’s just that my inventions are different. I often get asked about my artifice, but isn’t fashion based on the idea that we can create a fantasy?”

She may have lost me at “magazine.”

I love this new look but am not really buying the no-makeup thing. How many different swipes of very subtle makeup in similar shades to the features they are covering (can you tell I have no idea how to write about makeup…or anything) do you think this Bazaar effort took? I would guess 47.

Big Boi

MIAMI — Grammy-winning OutKast rapper Big Boi has been arrested in Miami on charges of illegally possessing drugs including ecstasy and Viagra pills.

The rapper, whose real name is Antwan Patton, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia on Sunday. According to the Miami-Dade County Corrections website, the 36-year-old Patton was also carrying MDMA, which is the main ingredient in Ecstasy.

The rapper was booked around 1:30 p.m. on $16,000 bond.

Phone and email messages were left for Big Boi’s publicists.

Big Boi is best known as half of the groundbreaking rap duo OutKast, which includes Andre 3000. The Atlanta-based group won six Grammys and churned out six platinum-plus albums, including “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below,” which sold over 10 million copies.

Microsoft isn't the only company that has seemingly attempted to capitalize on Amy Winehouse's death.

Microsoft received much Twitter flak after a small PR account for its Xbox system encouraged followers to remember recently deceased musician Amy Winehouse by purchasing her last album on the company’s entertainment marketplace, Zune.

After about an hour of retweets with comments like “classy,” “crass much?” and “Microsoft — failing at social media,” the accounttweeted a follow up.

“Apologies to everyone if our earlier Amy Winehouse ‘download’ tweet seemed purely commercially motivated,” it said. “Far from the case, we assure you.”

It then followed with a second tweet: “With Amy W’s passing, the world has lost a huge talent. Our thoughts are with Amy’s family and friends at this very sad time.”

Microsoft isn’t the only company that has seemingly attempted to capitalize on the star’s death.

Apple posted an image of Winehouse on the front of the iTunes store with the caption “remembering Amy Winehouse.”

Her breakout album, the Grammy-winningBack to Black,” has subsequently become the No. 1 album in the store. Amazon also posted a brief obituary that linked to a page where shoppers can purchase the singer’s music.

Sales of “Back to Black” increased 37 times immediately after Winehouse’s death.

In December 2010, the last time Yoko Ono was at Billboard, she was being honored for a whopping five consecutive No. 1s on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. With her just-released single “Talking To The Universe” climbing the same chart, the iconoclastic veteran artist took time out to chat about the DJ community’s affinity for her music, sharing a stage with Lady Gaga (“one of the most awesome pied pipers the world ever had”), Twitter, and her continuing work protecting and curating her late husband John Lennon‘s music and legacy. “Talking To The Universe” is vying to be your next hit on Billboard’s Dance/Club Play chart. You already have a slew of No. 1s on that chart. Were you surprised when your music was embraced by the DJ community? How has that, in turn, influenced how you make music?

Yoko Ono: Many of my songs were dance orientated from way back. That’s because I LOVE DANCE! When I hear a dance number, just hearing the first eight bars, it immediately makes my bod start moving and dancing. That’s how I was from a long, long time ago. I can’t help it. But now that I am very involved with making dance tracks, I feel I finally came home!

One thing I didn’t know, and now I know: DJs are in incredible competition, musically. And they are the most musically creative and sensitive people in all the music charts. I am amazed how they are. Without their creativity, my songs could never have become No. 1. I have so much respect and love for the DJs on the dance chart, you just don’t know. One day, the dance charts will be the biggest chart in the music world. Because we all need to dance. This planet will be a fun planet when the judges in court will end the day with a dance!

Is there someone you would especially like to have remix your work?

I would love to see a repeat performance of Chairman Mao and Nixon… with John [Lennon] mixing [his] song “We’re All Water.”

What are your plans for new music? Is there a new album in the works? Are there any collaborations with artists from the dance or rock worlds that are afoot?
Yes. You hit the spot. There is something in the works. But I’m not telling.

You performed with Lady Gaga last fall. How did that come about and what was performing with her like?

It was really exciting to perform with a lady who just made herself into a legend in two weeks… or was it two years? I think everything about her is worthy of being mentioned in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Video:Yoko Ono And Lady Gaga Perform Together

What did you think of Gaga after meeting her? What do you think of her music and career trajectory?
She is just being herself. She can’t help it! But the other side of the story is that she is one of the most awesome pied pipers the world ever had. Being close to her amazing energy is waking yourself up to the future of the Universe.  Bless her.

When you spoke with Billboard last fall you said your role in terms of John’s catalog and legacy was as “protector.” What are your thoughts on the warm reception to the reissues of his solo work that you oversaw last fall in time for his 70th birthday?
Humbly, with all my heart, I’d like to say thank you to the Universe. Thank you, Universe.
You have been in the music industry for almost 40 years. In this age of digital distribution and social media, where the labels have a far different role than they used to, what advice can you give to artists about having a career that is creative, long and lucrative?

Nothing is written in stone. So don’t prepare yourself for a long and lucrative career. You might die tomorrow. Your gold holdings might become dust. Just make the music you want to make now and enjoy it. That’s what music can give you: the kind of fun moment that will be good for your health. Maybe nobody else will hear it. Well, too bad for them!

Your tweets  (@yokoono) are often almost like Fluxus cards from the 60s art movement. Do you see that medium as an art as well?

Tweets? Of course, it’s art! It’s the latest most exciting art we have now. I am thrilled to bits! I hope you are not questioning it.

You’ve helped The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame put together an upcoming Beatles exhibit. What item in it is the most special to you?

I totally enjoyed all of it. Everything in it is so special, you just can’t pick one out of it.

Is there any aspect of art — music, visual arts, performing arts, film, writing — that you haven’t delved into that you want to get onto your long list of accomplishments?

Eulogy. How about that? Lately, I am asked to write a eulogy quite often for my friends who passed away. I like to think that I make them smile with what I remember about them. I have one for myself.  I want it carved on stone saying: Here lies a woman who was in love with the Planet Earth and she still is.

Kanye West‘s attraction towards fashion has been evident and growing since the beginning of his career. While in Rome for six months in 2010, ‘Ye interned at Fendi. “[I] presented ideas for clothing and ideas I had about fabrics, and just tried to learn more and more about that,” Kanye West said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Even though “The Voice” has only one more week to go, coachCee Lo Green says it’s one of the reasons he’s dropping out of the Loud tour with Rihanna.

According to the New York Times, Green announced he’s leaving the summer tour partly because of commitments to NBC’s reality singing competition, but also in preparation for a new album and a book.

“He always puts 100 percent into his work and with the requirements and time commitment to ‘The Voice,’ on top of heading back into the recording studio and an upcoming book,” Green’s spokesperson says. “He feels that he wouldn’t give his fans the show that they deserve.”

Green’s announcement follows a very public Twitter fight the singer had with a local music critic in which he lashed back at her after a negative review of the show. His response to the critic he mistook for a man had some accusing him of homophobia. He subsequently apologized if he offended anyone, but not for defending himself or his performance.

Green joined Rihanna on the tour in early-June with performances in at least 17 cities in the U.S. and Canada through July.

Amy Winehouse Funeral Brings Family and Friends Together

More than 95% of her albums sold last week were downloads. The hefty digital share isn’t shocking, as most consumers wouldn’t have been able to find much physical stock of Winehouse’s albums had they sought them out in brick-and-mortar stores.

On the digital track side of things, Winehouse sold a combined 111,000 downloads — up from just 5,000 the week previous. The biggest of the bunch was “Rehab,” with 38,000 sold. It re-enters the Digital Songs chart at No. 46 and is the only Winehouse song on the tally this week.

It’s expected that Winehouse’s albums and songs will see even bigger sales next week, after a full week’s worth of impact from her passing is felt on the charts.

Our regular recap of the week’s top 10 selling albums and songs will be available on Wednesday morning.
